Case Study: A Day In the LifeEver since the groundbreaking Day in the Life of America project in 1986, photojournalists have collaborated to present slice-of-life visual stories depicting 24 hours in a community’s experience. After working as a photographer, then a videographer, then the video editor of several Day in the Life stories, I was asked to coordinate a series of five Day in the Life features for a local news chain. The series was published as heirloom special section inserts and as multi-media web content. The initiative demanded rolling schedules in which planning for one story overlapped execution of another and editing and technical production of a third until all five were delivered. One of the sections, "Oak Park: Our Home, Our Lives" was awarded Best Photojournalism for a special section by the Suburban Newspaper Association.
